Overview

That will be the biggest challenge in the next 20 years. And we really became aware of that in 2022. So far, the renovations in BRAND.VIER occupied the largest space. Now we have to get to all the stocks and make living in all houses greenhouse gas-neutral.

That's why we did what we always do when we face a big hurdle:

We got external advice and put it into ours cross-functional team Integrated decarbonization. We know what we have to do to emit significantly fewer greenhouse gases. But where do we start with 84 houses? What is financially feasible and when? Which technology do we use? And should we change the heat supply first? Or first insulate? Or first generate solar power on our many roofs?

We still have 23 years left

The eZeit engineers around Laura Lebski have recorded our entire inventory and developed a catalog of measures from it, which we will be able to get to know in 2023. In the meantime we have already insulated heating pipes where this had not yet been done. We have switched the lighting in the cooperative building and in our H15 club house to LED. Wherever lamps break, we replace them with LEDs. Changing 84 to 15 light bulbs in 20 houses at once would be quite a lot. We have to weigh up. Just like the eZeit engineers do. Because everything at once is not possible.

We now think about sustainability everywhere

In our Field of Experts since this year there is a sustainability expert who explains everything that we and our partner companies do Sustainability examined and initiates changes if they are necessary and sensible. A cross-functional team is also developing solutions for tenant electricity from the roof. And of course we need our members. You have to help save money and later learn how to use new heating technology. We want to involve them very closely. We took the first step with a Special edition of our "1893-Geflüster" magazine made, which only revolved around saving energy. We have compiled 68 tips. We all have to make an effort – We go green for penguin.
