This ensures that the fiber optic expansion runs smoothly.

Are you up for the fastest internet ever?

By November 2025, all 1893 apartments will be equipped with fiber optics. Some will then already be enjoying very fast internet, others are close to it.

It will take time until everything is switched over. As soon as the fiber optic connection is in your apartment, the biggest step towards the fastest Internet ever has been taken. What you need to do and what else you need to know
You can find out more here.

Frequently asked questions about switching to fiber optic

Why do I need a fiber optic connection? Actually, what I have is enough for me.

#die1893 equips every apartment with a fiber optic connection. Fiber optic is hardly susceptible to interference, incredibly fast and climate-friendly. In the future, we will only use fiber optic to provide internet, telephone and television in our homes.

There is no reason to reject the fiber optic connection. Because you only have advantages. For us, the fiber optic expansion is an investment in the future.
We are upgrading our houses. We see it as modernization. And all members have to accept that.

You don't have to worry about higher costs. The internet rates for fiber optics are standard on the market. A cable connection for television is even a little cheaper.

Shortly before your fiber optic connection goes into operation, you will receive an offer from the Eberswalde company TELTA Citynetz GmbH. You can also find out more information on the homepage beforehand. Of course, you do not have to accept the offer. You can also look around at other providers. However, TELTA Citynetz GmbH will offer a cheaper tariff because they are already the tenant of our fiber optic network.

Check your display case in the hallway regularly. Here we will inform you about the civil engineering work in your residential area.

To ensure that everything runs smoothly, you need to be at home for about half a day and let one or two technicians into your apartment. The cables are usually pulled into each apartment via the hallway. In renovated apartments with a media cabinet in the hallway, we can use prepared empty pipes. Sometimes we can also use approved chimney ducts. If you are not there, we cannot proceed because the cables also have to go through your apartment.

If you really can't be there, please let us know in good time. We will send a colleague to whom you can give your key.

This varies from one stairway to the next. We will inform you in a personal letter in good time.

It is really important that you are there when the technicians announce their arrival. Otherwise the removal of your building will be delayed.

If you cannot be there, we ask you to leave a key with your neighbors or with us. If you miss the first appointment, we will suggest another appointment. If you do not attend this one, you will be charged for each subsequent appointment. Please remember that your neighbors will also have to plan an extra day if the technicians do not come to your apartment.

You don't have to do anything at first. The technicians will explain everything to you when they come to your apartment.

9 Facts

to our fiber optic campus networks

299.792,458 kilometers per second

That's how fast light waves are. And that's how fast data transmission to your home will be once we've finished with the fiber optic network. That's almost a billion kilometers per hour.

1

Barely
susceptible to failure

Because the data whizzes through the fiber optic network with light particles, there is hardly any interference like with copper cables, in which electrical signals are susceptible to interference.

2

Learn More
for less

A fiber optic network needs about twelve times less energy than a network of copper cables. The electrical signals in copper cables weaken over longer distances and have to be amplified. This costs energy.

3

FTTH

This means fibre to the home - fibre optics to the apartment. The current standard is that fibre optics are laid to the curb. From there on, copper cables take over. That is why what is stated in the internet contract never reaches the apartment. With FTTH, that changes.

4

The scepter of action in hand

We don't want to wait until our residential areas meet the potential analyzes of the major network operators. And we don't want to share the network with others. So that we can decide for ourselves which data leaves the houses and which goes in.

5

What does the term campus network mean?

We not only replace the copper network in the houses with a fiber optic network. We also connect the houses in a residential area to so-called campus networks.

There will also be a hub in one of the buildings that will supply all 1893 houses in the area. This means that not every house needs a supply. We only need to make adjustments at this hub.

Glass breaks
doc!

The glass fibers have a very special mixture that makes them flexible and highly elastic. In addition, the individual fibers are protected by plastic sheaths.

Many glass fibers together form a bundled strand, which in turn has a robust outer jacket. So everything is safe.

What changes for our members?

Data transfer is significantly faster than before. And of course there has to be construction work.

  • In the first step there is civil engineering work.
  • In the second step, technicians will be in the basements to make the necessary installations.
  • In the third step, the technicians pull the cables from the basement through the apartments so that every apartment is connected. To do this, we have to go into each apartment for a maximum of one hour. Of course, our members will be informed in good time when this will happen.

8

Does #die1893 do this all by herself?

No, for such large and important projects we bring in real experts. The Eberswalde-based company TELTA Citynetz GmbH will implement this project for us.

We are very pleased that this contract will remain in the region – and even in the city.
